Description

White Cottage is a late 17th-century cottage, altered around 1800. It is constructed of mud and stud timber framing with some brick underbuilding and brick gables, and has a pantile roof and two brick gable stacks, one of which is external. The cottage has a two-unit plan and is single-storey with a garret. The front has three bays, with a central planked door. To the left is a three-light sliding glazing bar sash window, and to the right a two-light glazing bar casement window. A brick pent roofed extension has been added to the left side. At the rear, an original fixed leaded light remains. Inside, the cottage retains vertical post and chamfered beams with run-out stops, planked doors, and an inglenook fireplace. The roof is a clasped purlin construction with a single tie beam.
