Description
Acthorpe Farm House is a farmhouse dating from around 1740, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring painted brick dressings, an old pantile roof, and two brick gable stacks. Originally designed in an L-plan, it has since been extended. The building is two storeys tall with attics and has a five-bay front that includes a plinth and a first-floor band, along with a 19th-century dentillated eaves course.
The entrance features 20th-century half-glazed doors that are sheltered by a 20th-century brick porch, which has a gabled lead roof and half-glazed outer doors, framed by a plain wooden pilastered surround and an open pediment. This is flanked by pairs of glazing bar sash windows, with five similar windows on the first floor. All windows have segmental brick heads with painted splayed lintels. The two dormers include 20th-century hinged glazing bar casements with low segmental heads and lead cheeks. At the rear of the house, there are extensive 20th-century extensions that are not considered of special interest.
