Description

The building at 75 and 79 Eastgate dates to the 18th century. It is a three-storey structure, rendered in appearance, with a modern cement and pantile roof. Originally, it had three windows, with two lights flanking a central blocked window. Number 75 now has a modern window on each floor. A blocked centre window is located on the first floor, beneath a cornice supported by consoles topped with a lion’s mask finial and a ring drop. A 19th-century canted bay window with three lights and plain pilasters has been added to the right, with modern glazing. The ground floors have been modernized. The building is listed as part of a group that includes numbers 57 to 75 (odd), 79 to 103 (odd), and number 2 Vickers Lane.
