Description

Hill Farm Cottage is an 18th-century cottage, extended in the mid-19th century and with minor 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of mud and stud timber framing, with a thatched roof that has been covered with corrugated iron sheeting, hipped at the south end. The cottage has a single-story lobby entry plan and a central stack. The front facade features a central 20th-century six-panel door flanked by a square bay window and a two-light Yorkshire sliding sash window. A central planked door with a glazed aperture is found on the south elevation, and the rear (east) elevation has a nine-panel fixed light window and a three-light Yorkshire sliding sash window. A two-story addition was built to the north in the 19th century, using local yellow brick and a clay pantile roof. The west elevation of the addition has a 20th-century timber casement window on the ground floor. Internal inspection was limited, but the roof appears to retain its original timbers and the timber wall framing is visible inside the cottage.
