Description
The Marine Hotel is a former hotel, now derelict, built in the late 18th century and altered in the 20th century. It features red brick construction with slate roofs, including brick coped tumbled gables and two brick gable stacks. The building is three storeys high with a four-bay front, where the third bay is slightly advanced. There are first and second floor bands. The off-centre door is blocked, as are two windows to the left and one to the right. The first floor has four plain sash windows, while the second floor has four blocked windows at the eaves. Other windows have segmental brick heads. To the right, there is an added advanced lower three-storey, three-bay block with a hipped roof, featuring a central door flanked by single blocked windows. The first floor has two windows flanking a disturbed area, and the second floor has three plain sashes. The Marine Hotel was built specifically for the seaside trade and closed 20 years ago.
