Description
This gravestone, dating from 1727, is located one pace south of the south aisle and four paces from the east end in the churchyard of the Church of All Saints. It is made of limestone ashlar and features a segmental headed design with a scrolled oval inscription panel topped by a winged cherub. Below the cherub, there is a circular hole that once supported a post, which has since been removed. The gravestone is inscribed to Mr. William Purrill, a shopkeeper from the parish who passed away in 1727. The inscription notes his endowment of the Almshouses located north of the church, as well as a school.
