Description
No. 4 Atherstone Road is a cottage from the early 19th century. It is constructed of whitewashed red brick and features a plain tiled roof. The building has an octagonal plan and stands two storeys high. The front and rear have two and three-light casement windows with stone sills and flat lintels. On the left side, there is a 20th-century door and windows, while the right side has an altered casement. There is also a 20th-century triangular two-storey addition with a flat roof on the right side of the front, which includes a door and two windows. The three remaining diagonal walls are blank. This cottage is said to have been built as the head gardener's cottage for the nearby demolished Appleby Hall.
