Description
Overstreet House is a 17th-century cottage located on the west side of Top Street in Appleby Magna. It is constructed of red brick with a thatched roof and features a brick ridge stack. The front is brick-faced, and it may have originally been timber framed. The left end wall has a Dutch gable with the initials HMS and the date 1693 in the brickwork, along with a rebuilt brick end stack above. The cottage is one and a half storeys tall and has three windows on the ground floor, which are casements. There are two eyebrow dormers, one on each side of the roof. Inside, the cottage has exposed beams and an inglenook fireplace. It is noted as the last thatched building in the village.
