Description
The Gables is a house dating from the mid-17th century, with an extension added to the west in 1682, as indicated by a plaque. It is constructed of Charnwood granite rubble, with some brick dressings and plain tile roofs. The house features two timber-framed gables on the south side, which have brick infill panels, and it has end wall stacks. The main range is two and a half storeys high and runs perpendicular to the street, with two windows on the front. The extension is two storeys tall and one window wide, but it has two windows facing the street. The windows are 20th-century horizontally-sliding sash windows. There is a central doorway that has been blocked. At the rear, there is a timber-framed gable that includes a queen post, collar, and tie-beam truss.
