Description
No. 8a Mill Lane Mews is a building constructed in 1817, originally serving as a General Baptist chapel. It features an incised stucco facade with a band at the first floor sill and an eaves cornice. The building is two storeys high and has four early 19th century sash windows with glazing bars. The ground floor includes a triple arched entrance that is asymmetrically placed, with a central round arch that has an archivolt, keystone, and vermiculated impost bands, containing double doors and a fanlight above. There are similar arches on either side, which are now blind. A raised entrance platform spans all three arches, with steps at the front and sides. The rear, or eastern facade, has two large round arched windows at the center, also with glazing bars and a decorative outer band.
