Description

No. 51 Market Street is a 16th century and later timber-framed building that features mainly early 19th century additions, including a fake timber frame and brickwork. The building has two storeys and an attic, with the upper floors slightly jettied out and showcasing exposed soffit timbers. On the eastern side, there are two early 19th century sash windows and a simple, double-fronted shop front with a bow window. To the west, there is a modest wooden doorcase topped with a pediment. The gable heads are plain and recessed, containing modern three-light casement windows. Some of the timber in the western bay is original, contributing to the building's picturesque appearance.
