Description
The Primary School in Whitwick, Coalville, was designed by Millican and Smith of Leicester in 1857 and built in 1858. It is constructed from Charnwood granite rubble with ashlar dressings and features a two-span Swithland slate roof. The building has a long main range with three gables in the center, each illuminated by two cusped lights and topped with cusped oculi. At each end of the main range are buttressed gabled projections; the left side has a two-light window, while the right side features a larger four-light window and a door. There are lower projections parallel to the main range on both sides, along with two truncated lateral chimney stacks. The school also includes contemporary gate piers and railings along the street.
