Description
Tojoni House, formerly known as The Hospital, is a former hospital that has been converted into a house. It was built in 1820 and underwent changes in the late 19th century. The building is constructed of brick, partly rendered, and features hipped slate roofs. It has a rubble plinth and is adorned with two gable, two ridge, and two lateral brick stacks. The house is two storeys high and consists of five bays.
The front of the building has a prominent, projecting pedimented three-bay center that includes three tall round recesses. These recesses contain a central six-panel door with a segmental head and a barred overlight, flanked on each side by two canted hipped bay windows, each featuring three plain sashes. Above this, there are five unusual five-light casements with segmental heads. The rear of the house has two gables and regular fenestration with casements that also have segmental heads.
Knossington Hospital was originally founded in 1711 and was rebuilt in 1820.
