Description

Hall Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 17th century, with a Victorian wing added later. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has plain tiled roofs. The facade facing the street features two gables; the left gable is a Victorian addition designed to match the original style. The right gable includes five-light stone mullioned and transomed windows, with three-light windows in the attic. The building has a stone plinth, angle quoins, and continuous moulded string courses that create drip moulds for the ground and first-floor windows. All windows are adorned with ovolo moulding. The gable is coped with a flat flanking parapet.

The garden front is a long range of four bays, featuring three-light mullioned and transomed windows throughout. However, two of the lower windows, which still retain their architraves, have lost their original mullions and transoms. The central doorway has been renewed. The right-hand bay is distinguished by a projecting stack. The entrance is now located in the Victorian wing to the northeast, behind which the back of the original range is visible, showing much repaired brickwork and a date stone that has been re-sited from a garden wall, marked 1601 with the initials WR. Inside, the original staircase remains intact, featuring turned balusters and a full-height squared newel.
