Description

Manor Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the late 18th century and the 20th century. It is constructed from ironstone rubble and ashlared limestone, featuring ashlar dressings and brick. The roof is slate with ashlar coped gables that have kneelers. There are two gable stacks; the left one is brick, while the right one has a stone base and brick above. There is also a ridge stack with a stone base and brick above. The building has a plinth with chamfered set-offs and stands two storeys high with garrets.

The south front has four bays and is entirely dressed in ashlar, with cavetto moulded stringcourses at both the first floor level and below the eaves. The off-centre doorway features a 20th-century stone gabled porch with a part-glazed six-panel door. To the left, there are two three-light sliding sash windows with wooden lintels, and to the right, there is a similar window. All windows have sloping lintel projections on brackets. Above the door, there are three three-light sliding sashes with wooden lintels, and there are signs of a blocked window above the porch.

The west gable end wall, made of ironstone rubble, has a late 17th-century three-light window with chamfered mullions and frame, along with a hoodmould. The left light of this window is now bricked up. Above it, there is a smaller window that was originally three lights but is now a two-light iron casement. The stone jambs and wooden lintel of the former window remain, and the former light to the right is also bricked up. The east gable end wall, also of ironstone rubble, features two small casements, one at first floor level and the other above in the garret, both with wooden lintels.
