Description

WISTOW Bridge and gates c30mSW of SP 69 NW 2/115 Church of St. Wistan GV II Bridge and gates. Probably c1815. Red brick with stone coping and wrought-iron painted white. The bridge has 2 small segmental arches and parapet with end piers and stone coping. It carries the drive leading to the church over the Wistow Hall lake overflow stream. At the end nearer the church a pair of gates clm high with uprights, scrolls and fleur-de-lys finials. The lake was made c1815 (V.C.H., Vol V), the probable date for this bridge and gates.
