Description

Loddington Hall is a country house that dates back partially to the late 16th century, but mainly from the later 17th century. It is constructed of coursed ironstone rubble with ashlar dressings and has a stone tiled roof. The entrance front, facing north, is two storeys high with attics and features a symmetrical design. It has outer projecting gabled wings, each containing a tall three-tiered mullioned and transomed window, along with a three-light mullion window in the attic. Between the wings is a flat-roofed porch with a central pedimented false gable and a four-centred arched doorway, flanked by pilasters, with outer mullioned and transomed windows. The first floor has three two-light mullioned windows, and there are central attic gables with two-light mullioned windows. To the left, there is another wing that likely dates from the late 16th century, featuring three three-light mullioned and transomed windows on each floor in its east and west walls, as well as one window on each floor in the gable end.

The south front, also from the late 17th century, is two storeys with a hipped roof and attics, consisting of 13 bays arranged in a 4-5-4 pattern. The central section is slightly higher, with a coved eaves cornice and a central pedimented doorway that has a round-arched niche above it. The windows are two-light wood mullions and transoms with stone architraves, and there are hipped gabled dormers in the attics, likely added in the 20th century. The building features gable and axial stacks.

Inside, the condition is very poor, but it includes several fine stone fireplaces.
