Description

No. 8 Leicester Road is a cottage dating from the late 16th century, which was refronted in the 19th century. It features a cruck frame with an ironstone plinth, and the front wall has been rebuilt in brick and rendered over. The cottage was formerly thatched and is single-storeyed with an attic. It consists of two bays of what appears to have been a three-bay building, with a central door and flanking windows that have rendered surrounds. There is a central stack located behind the entry. Inside, two pairs of collared cruck blades remain, crossed at the apex to support the ridge piece.
