Description

The Hotchkin Tomb is a table tomb located in the churchyard of St. Peter, near the east wall of the north aisle of the church. It dates from 1774 and is made of stone. The tomb features corner balusters with gadrooning and panels with moulded frames in the centers of the sides. It has a moulded top that forms a shallow stepped plinth for a large central urn. This urn is intricately carved with leaves, husk garlands, flowers, and bows, and it is topped with a flame finial. The entire structure stands approximately 2 meters high and includes an inscription commemorating Thomas Hotchkin, who died in 1774.
