Description

Thurcaston Grange and the adjoining stable block are a house and stable block from the late 18th century. They are constructed of painted brick with a brick plinth, a band in part, a moulded brick cornice, and a Swithland slate roof, which is partly parapetted and features end and ridge stacks. The building has two storeys with mostly 6/6 sash windows.

The entrance front is in an L shape, with a coped gable facing left that has an end stack. On the canted corner, there is a sash window above a 20th-century porch and double doors. To the right, there are three sashes on both floors, with an additional sash further to the right. The left side, which faces the garden, features a central two-storey bow with three sashes: 4/6, 6/9, and 4/6, with 4/4, 6/6, and 4/4 sashes above. There are three French windows to the left with sashes above, and two sashes on both floors to the right. Further left, there is a two-storey wing with a door and a two-light casement window above. This wing, as well as the right side of the main range, has various doors, sashes, and renewed casements.

The stable block projects to the right at the end of this wing on the entrance side, featuring an arch and various doors. Above the stable block is an octagonal lantern with leaded light windows, a Swithland slate roof, and a weathervane. The house was originally Thurcaston Rectory.
