Description
The Old Lodge, gates, and railings are located at Loughborough Cemetery on Leicester Road and date from the mid-19th century, designed in the Gothic Revival style. The lodge is constructed of brick with stone dressings and features a "fishscale" slate roof, which has a gable end facing the road and a subsidiary gable over the entrance. It is a single-storey building with one room, a canted bay on the east side, and an arched entrance on the south, which is adorned with a hoodmould and head stops, along with a corbel that supports a wooden bracket. The decorative bargeboards add to its charm. The gates and railings are made of cast iron, finished in black and gold. The square gate piers are topped with fleur-de-lys finials, and the ornamental railings include elongated cusped quatrefoils in their panels.
