Description

Field House is a house built in 1887, featuring red brick and terracotta construction, with plain tile roofs and moulded brick chimney stacks. It is designed in the "Queen Anne" style. The main block is two stories high with an attic, accompanied by subsidiary blocks on the left side and at the rear. The main block has a five-window range, with a central doorway that includes a decorative keystone and a white painted bracketed hood above. The windows are sash style with glazing bars. A terracotta frieze with ongar and a cornice runs between the first and attic floors, and there is a white painted eaves cornice. To the left of the entrance, there is a French window that once led to a conservatory, which is now lost. The left-hand wing features a two-story rectangular bay window and a gabled dormer, along with a white painted lantern with a lead roof and a weathervane shaped like a fix at the rear. The right-hand return front has a two-story rectangular projection, decorative plaques, a ground floor oriel window, and an arched entrance with a swan's neck pediment and an oval window above. The rear of this wing is canted, and the rear elevation has rendered and roughcast gables, along with some leaded windows.
