Description
This building is a field barn located behind a church, possibly the remains of a former manor house, dating from the 16th century. It is constructed from granite and limestone rubble, featuring dressed quoins and early narrow brickwork at the gable apex. There is some brick repair work around the window openings. The roof is made of Welsh slate and has a steep pitch. The barn currently forms a single range of two bays and is one and a half storeys high, although its exterior features may not correspond to its original design. The façade includes a central door flanked by windows, a small window in the gable, and an upper gable light. Inside, there is a 16th-century fireplace with a chamfered shallow archway located in a corner against the rear wall. A deeply moulded cross beam supports the upper storey, which does not extend across the entire building. It appears that this structure is a composite, re-assembled from elements of the manor house.
