Description

This chest tomb, located 20 metres south of the lychgate to All Saints Church, dates from around 1740 and features later inscriptions. It is made of sandstone and slate. The tomb has a moulded base set over a plain plinth, with raised and fielded slate panels on the long sides, plain raised panels at the ends, and shaped corner piers with gadrooned bases. The north side includes inscriptions for Joseph Greaves, who died in 1819, and his wife Anne, as well as another inscription for Anne Greaves, who died in 1827. The slate top, which has moulded edges, bears a Latin inscription for Joseph Greaves, who died in 1740 at the age of 61.
