Description

16 The Green is a farmhouse dating from 1690, which has been converted into three flats and offices. It features 18th-century alterations and significant internal changes made in the 20th century. The building is constructed of red brick, with some decorative diaper work on the street front, and stands on a stone plinth. It has a steeply pitched plain tile roof with a large rendered ridge stack and is designed in an L-plan.

The structure has two storeys plus garrets and consists of three bays. The street elevation displays diaper work in vitrified headers up to about halfway up the second storey. The ground floor has three 3-light segment-headed windows with 20th-century leaded casements, and between the northern two windows is a small blocked segment-headed window. Above, there are three similar windows, with the central one being the only original window, positioned slightly further south than the one below. Between the northern two windows is a diamond-shaped datestone inscribed 'WCM 1690'. Just below the eaves on the south side is a small 2-light window, and above this in the roof is a 20th-century roof light. The rear elevation features 2 and 3-light 20th-century leaded casement windows and a 20th-century door with a bracketed porch roof. The interior has been completely altered.
