Description
This is a pair of gate piers located to the east of Harper Hill House, dating from the late 18th century. The gate piers are made of ashlar gritstone and are square in shape, standing approximately 3 meters high. They feature banding with advanced alternating ashlar blocks. A shallow moulded cornice is positioned below a blocking course, and above this is a boldly projecting moulded cap. The two piers still have the rebates for tall gates, which have since been replaced by a 20th-century five-bar farm gate.
