Description
Wilkin Hill Pinfold is an early 19th-century stone walled enclosure located in the parish of Barlow. It is constructed from dressed and rubble coursed coal measures sandstone. The enclosure features semi-circular copings and has openings that are spanned by lintels. To the right of the doorway, there is a wooden barred grill, and a wooden gate is set within the doorway, which has a lintel inscribed with '.......... PINFOLD'. Notably, the name Barlow was removed from the lintel during the Second World War to confuse enemy troops. The structure was restored in 1985.
