Description
The Hollies is a house that was originally two cottages, built in the 18th and 19th centuries. It features coursed squared rubble coal measures sandstone, with the western part being roughcast and finished in smooth render. The building has plain eaves, gable and ridge brick stacks, and a Welsh slated roof, while the western section has stone slated eaves and a rendered coped gable.
The house is two storeys tall and has five bays, with the two western bays being lower and older. The taller section includes glazing bar sash windows in plain surrounds, a central doorway with a 19th-century half-glazed porch featuring a pitched roof, and a panelled door with the upper two panels glazed. The lower range has a glazing bar sash window on the ground floor of the east side and 2-light flush mullioned windows on the west side for both the ground and first floors, with glazing bar casements set in painted flush surrounds. The central doorway here has a massive surround and a two-panelled door.
