Description
No. 8 Henry Street is a shop that was originally part of a row, built in the early 19th century with some alterations made in the 20th century. The building is constructed from dressed millstone grit, featuring ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate roof, topped with a stone stack that has a moulded cap.
The exterior is two stories high and has a symmetrical front with two windows. The central doorway has a 20th-century door and a fanlight above it, flanked by pilasters with moulded capitals and bases. On either side of the doorway are large 4-pane shop windows, which are supported by painted stone pilasters and topped with a moulded entablature. Above the shop windows, there are two plain sash windows set under deep lintels.
Inside, there is a boarded fireplace remaining on the ground floor, although the internal subdivisions have been altered. Stairs rise from the back room to a storage area above.
