Description
The war memorial in Glossop, located in Norfolk Square, was constructed around 1920 and features a sculpture by Vernon March. It is made of ashlar stone and bronze. The memorial has a square base consisting of five steps that support a tall rectangular plinth with swept and battered sides. The east and west sides of the plinth are adorned with bronze laurel wreaths. The main front displays the inscription "PRO PATRIA" at the top. Each side of the memorial features brass plates inscribed with the names of local individuals from Glossop who lost their lives in both World Wars. Above these inscriptions is an exuberant bronze sculpture of winged Victory standing on a globe.
