Description
A pair of semi-detached houses dating from the mid-19th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. The construction utilizes coursed tooled millstone grit with ashlar dressings and a Welsh slate hipped roof, featuring stone stacks. The houses are two storeys high with a basement. Notable external features include bracketed eaves and rusticated quoins, along with a symmetrical six-window façade arranged in a 1:2:2:1 configuration, with the outer windows in slightly projecting gabled wings. A front verandah incorporates cast-iron columns and ornate spandrels, supporting a lean-to roof. There are four sets of glazed double doors, each with sidelights and overlights; the left-centre doors have been altered and extended. Above, four 2/2 sash windows are complemented by triple graduated round-headed windows with 2/2 sashes in the outer bays. The returns on the left and right sides feature single-storey enclosed porches with flat roofs, blocking parapets, and moulded cornices. Doorways are framed by arched surrounds with fanlights and pilaster surrounds, although the left entrance has been altered to a window, with the door now located to the side. Internally, original marble fireplaces, shallow archways to the ground floor, and a flag floor to the cellar, complete with a coal chute, have been preserved.
