Description

No. 9 Terrace Road is a house, now used as offices, dating from the late 18th century. It was remodeled around 1870 and converted in the late 20th century. The building is constructed of rubble and dressed millstone grit, featuring ashlar dressings and a shallow pitched Welsh slate roof with coped gables and kneelers, along with gable stacks that have moulded caps.

The house has an L-shaped plan and stands two storeys high with an attic. The street-facing side includes a plinth, raised vermiculated quoins, a vermiculated band at the first floor, and dentillated eaves. The central doorway features a panel door with an overlight, framed by a moulded ashlar surround and topped with a hood supported by brackets. On either side of the door are single canted bay windows with 2/2 and plain sashes. Above, there are three 2/2 sash windows set in moulded ashlar surrounds, each with flat hoods on brackets and projecting sills. At the top, there is a single central dormer window with a segmental head and a 3/3 sash.

The left return has an irregular two-window range that includes a two-storey canted wooden bay window, a four-pane window to the right, and a 6/6 sash above. In the attic, there are two 6/6 sashes. Set back to the left is a late 18th-century wing with irregular fenestration. The right return has a two-window range that was refenestrated in the 20th century. The interior has not been inspected.
