Description
The cotton processing and storage buildings at Draycott Mills, dating from around 1840 to 1850, are now disused. Constructed of brick with ashlar and brick dressings, they feature slate roofs and are single storey. The complex consists of three adjoining buildings arranged in an L shape, measuring approximately 9 by 7 bays. Most openings are either boarded or blocked.
To the south, there is a single range oriented east-west, topped with a hipped roof behind a coped parapet. This section has seven windows and two blank doorways on the south side, along with a segment-headed double door on the east side. The north side features two windows and two doorways. Attached at the west end are two buildings oriented north-south, both with shouldered coped gables. The southern building includes a ridge ventilator and has four recessed square-headed panels containing a door and two windows on the east side, as well as a double door and a window at the rear. The northern building has six arcaded round-arched openings on the east side, with blocked windows and inserted doors. At the rear, there are two flat-headed windows and double doors. This site was part of an integrated facility for the manufacture of cotton yarn and lace.
