Description

Christ Church is a church built between 1837 and 1838 by John Mason of Derby. It is constructed from gritstone ashlar with red sandstone dressings. The building features a three-bay nave, a short projecting chancel (which may have been added slightly later), and a projecting west tower with battlements. The tower has single lancet windows, while the chancel east window showcases intersecting tracery, and all other windows are designed with Y tracery.

Inside, the church has a flat plaster ceiling and retains a good original interior, including box pews, a pulpit with an attached reading desk, and a west gallery supported by two iron columns. Later additions include a large and heavy High Victorian font and notable stained glass from 1863 in the chancel, featuring a three-light east window and a two-light south window.
