Description

This is a house, dating from the mid-17th century with early 18th century additions and later alterations. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings, and has tiled roofs with four brick stacks. The building has two storeys plus an attic, and an irregular plan. The east wing likely dates to the mid-17th century. The north gable end displays stone coped gables with kneelers and flush stone quoins. The ground floor has two 17th-century window openings with chamfered stone surrounds, now containing later wooden casements. Two similar windows are bricked up in the gable. The east facade features three two-light chamfered mullioned windows, one on the ground floor and two on the first floor. The south facade is similarly arranged, with one window on each of the ground floor, first floor and attic levels. To the west, set back, is the early 18th-century main block, with twin gables. A central doorway has an ashlar doorcase with a segmental pediment, now containing a modern half-glazed door. It is flanked by single wooden cross-windows with square lead panes. Similar windows are on the first floor, and a smaller two-light wooden casement is centrally positioned, with the right-hand light bricked up. One two-light wooden casement is visible in each gable. Attached outbuildings to the west include a brick barn featuring a cart entrance.
