Description

A pair of stone gate piers, dated 1721, stand on either side of the passageway leading to St John's Street, west of St Mary's churchyard. The piers feature moulded cornice caps topped with large moulded finials and have panelled sides. The left-hand pier includes an inscription that reads, "Edward Alexander. The Else Churchwardens." Accompanying the piers are a pair of 19th-century wrought iron gates.
