Description

The bust of Catherine Mumford is located in War Memorial Park on the southeast side of Cokayne Avenue. This bust commemorates Catherine Mumford, who was the wife of General Booth and a founder of the Salvation Army. Created by George Wade, the bust depicts Mumford, born in Ashbourne in 1829, wearing the Salvation Army uniform. The original bronze bust has recently been stolen and has been replaced by a copy made of fibreglass.
