Description

This is an early 18th-century building located on the north-east side of Market Place. Constructed of red brick with quoins, it features plain eaves, a tiled roof with a stone gabled end, and a central chimney. The building is three storeys high and has four windows on each floor, each with small keyblocks and flat brick arches. The windows have boxed frames. A band runs around the building, and there are two moulded square panels each containing a plain oval. A mid-19th century shop front, lacking glazing bars, occupies the front, with one original doorway now bricked up. The southern portion of the building is slightly advanced and has a bracketed cornice with dentil details over the advanced section, along with pilasters. A doorcase leads to a passage on the northern side. At the rear of the building, there is a 17th-century staircase. The listed buildings in Market Place form a group.
