Description
Church Cottage is a cottage dating from the early 17th century, which was extended and encased in brick in the 19th century. It features a timber frame with crucks and red brick, topped by a plain tile roof that has one brick ridge stack and two brick gable stacks in the pitch of the roof. The cottage is single storey with attics and originally consisted of a single bay cruck structure, later extended at both ends to create a three-cell cottage. The south elevation has four bays, with an off-centre doorway that has a segment head and a plank door beneath a wooden lintel. To the right, there is a 20th-century window under a flat arch, and to the left, a segment-headed window with a 20th-century casement, followed by another 20th-century window under a flat arch. Above, there is one gabled half dormer. Inside, the cottage features two exposed crucks, one of which is partly truncated, along with an inglenook fireplace and exposed beams.
