Description
Pear Tree Cottage is a house, formerly a house and cottage, dating from around 1740. It is constructed of coursed rubble coal measures sandstone, featuring quoins and a coped west gable with moulded kneelers, while the east gable is plain. The building has intermediate and gable end brick stacks and a concrete tiled roof. It stands two storeys high and has five bays, with the first, third, and fifth bays featuring stacked three-light flush mullioned windows. At the east end, there are two doorways with massive quoins and lintels, although one doorway is now blocked and has a 20th-century casement window. The west end has an inserted or remodelled doorway with a single light opening above, which has a flush surround. The existing doorways are fitted with 20th-century stable doors.
