Description
The retaining walls to the weirs in the River Derwent, located near the former Forge Mill, are notable structures dating back to the 18th and 19th centuries. The upstream weir is depicted on an estate plan from 1792, while the downstream weir appears on a tithe map from 1840. The upstream weir features a lower semi-circular shape at its center, which includes a stone fish ladder designed to assist fish passage.
