Description
This listing describes three 19th-century lamp posts located on the south side of Long Row. The lamp posts are situated in front of numbers 45 and 46, on the bridge between numbers 53 and 58, and in front of number 65. They are made of cast iron and feature round moulded plinths, tall fluted shafts, and cross arms. Each lamp post has simple swan neck lamp brackets. The Strutts established a private gas works in Belper, with eight street lamps in place by 1825, and the town's gas works was established in 1848.
