Description

LONG ROW 1. 5167 (South Side) 3 lamp posts: to front of Nos 45 and 46; on bridge between Nos 53 and 58; to front of No 65 SK 3447 NE 1/33 28.9.76. II GV 2. C19. Cast iron, with round moulded plinths, tall fluted shafts and cross arms. Simple swan neck lamp brackets. (The Strutts established a private gas works in Belper, with 8 street lamps in existence by 1825. The town gas works established 1848). Ref Nixon pages 2ll and 228.
