Description

This building is a warehouse that is currently occupied by Dalton and Company Limited, which produces Silkolene lubricants. It was constructed between 1802 and 1834 and originally served as a warehouse for the domestic framework knitting industry. The structure is made of ashlar stone and features moulded cornices on the pedimented gable ends. It has three storeys and a symmetrical facade with 21 windows, of which the centre five are slightly advanced. The windows are sashes with glazing bars. There is an eaves band and a blocking course, along with bands at the sills of the first and second floors. The centre of the building has a pedimented stone porch. The interior is reported to have a good staircase.
