Description

The mile stone in front of the Holly Bush Inn dates back to 1779. It is a plain stone that is set into the ground and stands upright against the wall of the public house. The stone is engraved with the date and the words "Derby Coach Road." This marks the turnpike road to Derby, which was in use before the valley road was constructed by Strutts in 1818.
