Description
The Summer House is a Grade II* listed structure built around 1775, likely designed by George Richardson. It is constructed from sandstone ashlar and features a domed lead roof topped with a central urn finial. The building has a hexagonal shape, with pilasters at each corner that have upright leaf capitals, and an entablature adorned with flower roundels. There are urns with swags at the top and a blocking course. On the north side, a semi-circle of four stone steps leads up to the entrance. A moulded sill band runs around the building, and there are double doors to the north framed by a moulded surround. The other sides have four glazing bar sash windows, also with moulded surrounds, while the rear wall is blind. Inside, the Summer House is plastered and features a moulded cornice and dado rail. The structure was relocated from a slightly different position in the 1920s.
