Description
Nos 90 and 92 on Derby Road are two houses, one of which is now partly a shop. They were built in the early 19th century, with a late 19th-century shop front added. The buildings are made of red brick with stone dressings and feature slate roofs, stone coped gables on brick kneelers, and end stacks. They also have dentilled eaves bands. Each house has three storeys and two bays.
No 90, located to the east, has a central raised and fielded panelled door with an overlight that has margin glazing, flanked by 12-pane sash windows. Above, there are two similar sashes and an uneven arrangement of 9-pane sashes. All windows have projecting sills, and the ground and first-floor openings are topped with wedge stone lintels.
No 92 features a late shop front on the ground floor, which includes recessed central double half-glazed doors flanked by triple-pane shop windows set over panelled plinths. Large carved stone brackets are positioned above on either side, with 20th-century boarding replacing the former cornice. Above this, there are two 12-pane sashes beneath wedge stone lintels, and above them, two uneven 9-pane sashes. All windows in this house also have projecting sills.
