Description
Amberley Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, which was remodeled in the early 19th century. It is constructed from coursed rubble coal measures sandstone that rises from a broad plinth of massive ashlar. The building features coped gables, ashlar ridge stacks, and a slated roof, and is designed in an 'L' plan.
The farmhouse has three storeys and two bays. The ground and first floors have single glazing bar sash windows set in plain surrounds that project slightly. The upper floor is adorned with two 3-light flush mullioned windows with casements. The central doorway has a quoined surround and features a 19th-century six-panelled door, with the upper two panels glazed, all beneath a massive lintel and a shallow bracketed hood.
At the rear, there is a wing that retains 2-light flush mullioned windows. Additionally, there is a small single-storey addition on the west gable, which has a stone slated roof and shows evidence of a fireplace in its gable wall.
