Description
Turnditch School is a building dated 1846, constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings. It features coped gables, a single gable brick stack, and a beaver-tailed tiled roof. The school is a single-storey structure with a symmetrical plan, highlighted by a central gabled porch. The doorway has a quoined surround and a four-centred arched lintel, with a coped gable above that displays a shield inscribed with 'NATIONAL SCHOOL AD 1846'. Above this, there is a low brick tower with weatherboarded faces, an arcaded timber bellstage, and a curved pyramidal cap topped with a weathervane. The flanking ranges each contain two chamfered mullioned cross windows with stepped jambs that mimic quoining, and the windows have cast iron diamond pane frames. There is a low gabled extension to the west, which is not of special interest.
