Description

Dalley Farm features a range of farm buildings dating from the early 19th century. Constructed from ashlar and red brick, with slate and tile roofing, the buildings are situated around the eastern farmyard. The main structure is a two-storey, coursed stone range that includes a three-storey cross wing at its center. The southern facade has two rows of rectangular vents with iron grilles, and there is an external stone staircase with right-angled turns, likely a safety feature, along with a retaining wall at the east end. The building includes various doors and windows, with a door in the north-west corner providing access to the north side. The eastern end features two vents and a loft door.

The northern facade starts with a gabled two-storey section, transitioning to a catslide roof over an advanced single-storey part that connects to the three-storey gabled cross wing, which has two iron casements on each floor, a side chimney, and a side external staircase.

Inside, the structure has vaulted construction supported by cast iron pillars. In the western farmyard, there is a two-storey red brick building with a tiled roof and vents. The southern elevation features an arcade on massive masonry piers, with a walkway above that connects the east and west sides of the yard at first-floor level. This elevation also includes a stable door, a shuttered opening, and an archway below, with windows and a pitching eye above. The northern elevation consists of a two-storey red brick section with one iron casement on each floor and a door. An adjoining red brick range has nine shuttered openings that provide access to cast iron framed grain bins inside, arranged along a raised central aisle. The west end has a loft door and windows, which have been modified to form a garage.
