Description
Tolethorpe Lodge is a mid-19th century lodge for Tolethorpe Hall, constructed from coursed squared rubble with ashlar dressings and a Collyweston stone slate roof. The building has an L-shaped plan and stands 1½ storeys high. It features moulded ridge and north end stacks, a coped south gable with obelisk finials at the apex and on projecting curved kneelers, as well as a moulded plinth and stringcourse between the storeys. The roof is hipped to the east and includes a gabled dormer that matches the treatment of the south gable. The stone-mullioned casement windows have transoms on the ground floor, with relieving arches above them. An open porch is located in the angle of the plan, featuring continuously chamfered flat 4-centred arches and a Collyweston stone slate roof. There is a single-storey 20th-century addition to the north.
